On 22 May, discussions on urban planning, climate-resilient urbanisation and sustainable development continued into the final day of the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, held under the theme “Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities”.

Convened in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in May 2026, the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) will be remembered as one of the most consequential international events in recent years devoted to sustainable urban development. Attended by more than 57,000 participants from 176 countries, the Forum once again underscored Azerbaijan’s growing role as a global platform for dialogue and cooperation.

As part of the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), hosted in Azerbaijan from 17 to 22 May 2026, foreign journalists visiting the country took part in a media tour of Baku’s historical and cultural landmarks. Organised jointly by the Media Development Agency and the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, the initiative sought to highlight Azerbaijan’s development priorities and achievements in sustainable urban development to the international media community.
