05 february 2026

In 1968, M. Huseynov discovered a lower jawbone fragment within the cave, dating back between 300,000 and 350,000 years. It was subsequently identified as belonging to an 18-to-20-year-old woman.

In terms of archaeological richness, the cave contains ten archaeological layers with a total depth of 14,5 metres. Over 2,000 stone tools were found in Layer 6 alone, along with unique “gigantoliths” associated with the Quruchay culture.
