Guba City Hosted WUF13 Festival
On 30 April, the WUF13 Festival was held in Guba city as part of ongoing efforts to raise public awareness of the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
In the first half of the day, an information session on WUF13 was held at the Guba branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ASPU). The session brought together university staff and students, pupils from schools and lyceums across Guba, as well as visiting teachers from Uzbekistan.
Speakers at the event included Anar Mammadov, Head of the Socio-Political and Humanitarian Affairs Sector of the Guba District Executive Authority; Yusif Aliyev, Director of the Guba branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University; and Emin Huseynzade, Communications Manager at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company. In their remarks, speakers highlighted the significance of WUF13 for Azerbaijan and outlined the key themes to be discussed during the event.
Emin Huseynzade underlined that the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum, to be held in Baku from 17 to 22 May 2026, is open to all, encouraging attendees to register and engage actively in the event.
The WUF13 Festival unfolded in two parts, with the open-air public programme commencing at 18:00.
Through a programme of interactive activities, educational games, presentations and public discussions, a wide audience was engaged with key themes including sustainable urban development, inclusive urban environments, innovative urban solutions and the cities of the future. Participants were also offered deeper insight into the core themes and guiding ideas underpinning WUF13.
The public programme attracted close to 6,000 participants.
