Azerbaijan shares housing policy experience at the World Summit on Social Development
A delegation from the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan is participating in the Second World Summit on Social Development, held in Doha, Qatar, from November 4 to 6.
During the Summit, Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the Committee, spoke at the session “Adequate Housing as a Foundation for Social Development”, emphasizing that housing policy is one of the main pillars for social welfare and inclusive development.
It was noted that Azerbaijan’s national housing policy recognizes housing as a cornerstone of inclusive development and social stability. One of the key directions of the strategy is the phased settlement of displaced persons in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur and the creation of sustainable, livable cities.
Azerbaijan’s role as Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Working Group under the UN-Habitat Assembly resolution “Adequate Housing for All” was also highlighted, with continued active contribution to promoting fair and sustainable housing policies within this initiative.
The discussions will continue at the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026, which will serve as an important global platform. At the conclusion, Anar Guliyev invited all partners and countries to come together in Baku for this international event, under the theme “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.”
