Metro Purple Line: Sustainable Transit Future

The master plan provides for the expansion of the Baku Metro from 23 to 76 stations by 2040, tripling network coverage to serve a projected population of 5 million.

The project utilises Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) replacing manual methods, and enabling faster construction with minimal surface disruption.

New stations feature LED lighting, digital information systems, modern ventilation, accessibility features, and earthquake-resistant construction.

It forms part of a comprehensive plan to reduce car dependency, decrease emissions, and provide affordable mass transit as the city expands.

The Purple Line connects residential areas with business districts, the airport corridor, and industrial zones, supporting balanced development.
